Bath Medic Bath Repairs and Bath Resurfacing

What is bath re-enamelling?

Bath resurfacing, bath enamelling, re-enamelling, bath restoration usually describe the same process. The application of a new durable finish is done on-site by using a hot gun, portable sprayer. There are many companies in the UK performing this type of restoration to a different standard and often their service description is a bit confusing.

Chipped Bath Enamel Repair London

Bath enamel repair in spots, small cosmetic repairs to the sanitary ware (and other hard surfaces), commonly known as ‘chip repair’ or ‘invisible repair’ is a cost-saving method of fixing the scratches, dings and minor imperfections.

Instead of replacing or resurfacing the whole unit, it’s often possible to fix it in a matter of hours with minimum disruption for a fraction of the cost.

The methods vary with each substrate and situation, but as a general description, I do the service by reinforcing and levelling the damaged spot. An accurate colour match then follows structural repair and blending into the existing area keeping the restoration as small and invisible to the naked eye as possible.

We have years of experience in bath repair and bath resurfacing and specialize in:

  • Bath Chip repairs
  • Bath Enamel Repairs
  • Bath resurfacing
  • Shower Tray Repairs
  • Sink Repairs

Cost-saving potential and environmentally friendly solution as the offered service is not limited to the bathroom area only. I can repair the majority of hard surfaces! My ‘bread and butter’ is a sanitary ware fixing, but please check my gallery to see repairs from inside and outside the household, from stone thru wood and metal, acrylics and PVC.

  • Sink crack repair and other small damage sink repairs.Chipped sink repair. The size of the damage defines the solution needed. If I can – I’ll keep it as small as possible…and small in cost also. This acrylic basin was repaired only where damage had occurred. Good colour match and attention to details makes repair invisible to detect, despite it’s right in your face, each time you come to use the basin.

Full Sink Resurfacing London

  • Sink Resurfacing Sink resurfacing – as the shortest description is to name it a smaller version of bath or shower resurfacing service. Depends how big is the area damaged on the sink, the repair solution can be either to offer a spot repair, or re-coat the entire sink. The steps to prepare for resurfacing a porcelain sink are the same as working with vitreous enamel bath or ceramic shower tray. The damage has to be repaired, substrate cleaned, and etched for adhesion, follow undercoats and finishing glossy topcoat. The topcoat is then dried and polished and if needed the new silicone is applied (free of charge) around it. It’s hardly ever needed to repair the acrylic sink as a whole, but it’s also doable and last long. To make sure that there is a minimum trace after me doing the repair, I always take great care for preparing the site and protect the area around me from spillage, dust or overspray. Depends on the conditions on-site I either create a ‘tent’ (spray booth) around the sink or mask the entire bathroom, protecting walls, floor and anything else from overspray or dust. If you prefer and have your sink disconnected or just picked something unique from the antique shop – I can collect and refinish in a stationary sprayshop in Bristol. The total time required for an entire sink repair and resurfacing is between 4-7hrs, and it will be usable from no later than the following day. Short drying time and the fact that nothing has to be moved or disconnected, makes it a great advantage over replacing the broken basin.

FAQ's

We know that you might have questions regarding bath repair and bath resurfacing. Below are some of the top queries we receive.

Much less than any other option. Most jobs are finished in 4 – 8 hours.

The durability of a bathtub refinished by Bath Medic is very similar to that of a brand new bathtub. If properly maintained and no abrasive chemicals are used for cleaning, then it will last you many years. Almost as long as a brand new bathtub would!

Bath Medic offers an industry leading Lifetime written warranty for all of our work. Most refinishing companies offer warranties which are pro-rated, meaning coverage decreases incrementally over time. Unlike these warranties, our guarantee covers 100% of any defect in workmanship or materials throughout the entire life of the guarantee.

Refinished bathtubs are often easier to clean than the original product. Make sure you use mild, non-abrasive cleaning products. Just as with a new bathtub, the finish or shine can be dulled by abrasive cleaners.

This is a common myth in the bathtub refinishing industry. Your bath will not look like it was painted, since the material we use is a coating, not paint. In fact, our technicians pride themselves on the fact that it is quite difficult for an untrained eye to tell the difference between a brand new bathtub and one that has been refinished by Bath Medic.

With our normal topcoat you can use your tub in 24 hours.

We can fix cracks, rust, scratches, dull spots, chips, pits and discoloration in the refinishing process. Kitchen countertops with knife cuts, scratches, burns and chips will also look like new.
